Starting August off great!!!
Friday, August 8th, 2008It’s August 7, and I just got my first live action in for the month. I have got to fucking start playing more. And, I’m rewarded tonight by playing really, really well and losing.
I’ll talk about one hand, so y’all can all tell me that I didn’t really play well, and that I’m a donk.
I’m in MP with 68hh and open limp. A couple limpers behind me, the sb completes and then the BB raises to 12. This is a good situation. I have position on the raiser, and nobody else showed strength, I have a good hand for the situation, and there’s obvious big pot potential. I’m surprised when we only get one other caller. Flop is T87, with two clubs. Raiser, who may or may not be tilted when he got stacked a few hands before (but is a fairly tight player), bets out 15. I have, I think, 9 immediate outs, and some additional ghost outs with the clubs, and of course it’s possible that I’m ahead. I call (we’re both close to 300, so a raise seems too dangerous as I can’t stand a 3bet). LP folds. Turn comes a red 5 (I don’t remember suit, but no second flush draw). So, I pick up more outs. I’m pretty sure I’m going to need them because the preflop raiser bets 30, so now I’m confident that he has an overpair. I just call. Turn is the beautiful Ac. He bets 50. I love it. I raise to 150. He doesn’t think much, but instead quickly calls. What? He obviously rivered a set of Aces. Awesome. He said he put me on the flush draw, but couldn’t fold a set of Aces. Awesome.
Ok, you can now comment on what a donk I am (and how I use parentheses too much).
I’m planning to play a monster session at the Venetian on Saturday. Wish me luck.
