My top 25 college football teams - v. 3.0.

1. UT - A win against a really, really good team without playing quite their best.   I’m convinced.

2. Alabama - No, Tennessee is not that good.   But, they were good enough Saturday to pull the upset.   They came out ready.   And, ‘Bama never let them really believe.   Alabama is for real.

I don’t know if they’ll both win out.   I kinda doubt it.   But, today, that’s the game I want.

3. USC - They played worse at ‘Zona than they did at Oregon State, and were just lucky the Wildcats weren’t up for anything.   I do believe, however, that they would probably win against anybody if they get to Miami somehow.

4. Penn State - They won.   In Columbus and at night, they won.   But, they dropped a little bit in my eyes.   I respect JoePa immensely, but I just don’t think they are top 2.

5. Texas Tech - Wow.  They looked great on Saturday.   KU scored on their 2nd and 3rd possessions, but Tech scored on their first four, and then never looked back.   The defense is clearly better.   But, I’ll be surprised (pleasantly, of course) if they compete with UT on Saturday.

6. OK State - they almost found a way to win and instead found a way to lose admirably.   I “think” they’ll beat OU, and the Texas Tech game could be a blowout either way, which is weird.  Let’s just say the Big 12 South is good.   btw, Baylor is on the way up and TAMU can’t stay down forever with their resources.

7. UGa. - They looked good, too.   LSU seems to be making everyone look good.   I’m pretty pumped for the game against…

8. Florida -  63 points against an SEC D.   They could definitely win out, at which point it’s going to be interesting to see who would keep them out of the championship game.   I wonder if Urban Meyer wants a shot in the NFL.

9. OU - Their defense is struggling without the Vegas kid.

10. Mizzou - Ok, 9 and 10 is where we start to get to the clearly flawed teams.   Mizzou has disappointed.   But, they DID whup up on a decent CU team.

11. Ohio State - were rising up my charts before Saturday.   Maybe I do want to see Penn State in the game, just to see how good their D really is.   The thing that sucks is that they could suffer the same way OSU has with the layoff.

12. TCU - I’m reaching.

13. Tulsa - still reaching.

14.  FSU - should win out, which means they’ll probably lose twice more.

15. Utah - looking forward to the game against TCU; should tell a lot.

16.  Oregon - good team, taking care of what they need to, looking forward to the game against….

17. Cal - that game will go a long way towards determining who’s #2 out west (ok, in the Pac-10).

18. Minnesota - they just keep winning.   I don’t like the all white unis, btw.

19. Boise State - they beat SJSU comfortably, which is good.   Just a couple more minor hurdles.

20. Ball State - Miami is not tough, but NIU, CMU, and WMU all have the ability to upset the Cardinals.

21. Michigan State

22. Notre Dame

23. West Virginia (really?)

24. Troy - only losses to Oklahoma State and Ohio State, but they haven’t  really beaten anybody, either.

25. BYU - when you start off as strong as they did, and then decline to the point where UNLV is passing into the end zone as time runs out to force OT, when you’re at home, things are not good.   But, there’s fucking nobody else worthy, either.

Others receiving votes:  SMU

Yes they can. And I enjoy it immensely. I am one of those people that like to see them suck year after year after year. I never root for them.

I often root for Tech and OU many times. Never Aggie. Its just too much fun seeing the lose.
