tiltstout

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

For those that don’t know, I’m picking football games over at tiltstout.   Not so good so far.   I think I’m 3-8 overall.   I don’t see many games I like yet for this weekend, so I’m unlikely to gain much ground for awhile.

A better note is that my first article for the site is up.   WWJD.   Check it out.   Obviously, I’ll still be writing about football here, but I enjoyed writing this first article and am looking forward to it evolving and growing.

Another episode tonight.    Very good.   Krantz goes through the valley that all of us go through, and miraculously is back in the game by the end of the half hour, and happy to be there.   Brian finds good spots and loses 100k for the week.   Dani and Emil show us how two kids with money in Vegas can get laid.   We get another look at the tilt room, which is still the coolest thing about the show to me.

After the show, I was actually fired up to play some online.   Put on my lucky hoodie and sat down to get in some action.    4 bad beats later, including a 3 outer on 7th street in a 3 way pot in stud (the 3rd guy was drawing dead), and I’m not so fired up.   Ok, we’ll play a couple mtt’s.    See how that goes.   Later.

As promised…

I mentioned on the basketball episode that I’d post a link here.   This chic is hot and somehow linked to JKidd.

NFL Sunday Ticket

Free preview tomorrow/today.   Yes, I’ll be watching every one of the games.    Don’t bother me.

Face the Ace.

The show returned today (sometime Saturday afternoon).   My DVR picked it up, or I wouldn’t have known.   I will warn all of you that the next show is 10-31, so remember Halloween=FtA.   Ok, now that’s out of the way.   The contestant, again, was annoying as fuck.  The reason Moneymaker was so huge (ok, one of many) was that ‘we’ could picture ourselves in his shoes, being nervous making a call with only 33 after the flop against Dutch Boyd or making a huge bluff HU against Sammy Farha.   I can’t relate to these douchebags they keep putting on the show.   And, are they winning their way on?   I mean, that’s not better.   I don’t wanna know that dumbys like this win the megamultis online.   Whatever.   I am going to keep watching.   btw, I talked to a friend of mine who works behind the scenes on the show on last week’s thejimshow, so you should listen to that episode to get a further take of mine and/or someone else’s take on it.   Ok, later.

Not much to say this week.   The guys made it clear that they’re out of touch with reality.   Talking about and/or actually spending money hand over fist.    HU live match against Erica Schoenberg.   I guess I’m hatin’, but don’t they consider the possibility that this could all end?

Sports Movies.

Monday, September 7th, 2009

I watched ‘The Natural’ on a 120″ TV tonight.   Nice.  I’ve seen it a kajillion times, but I can still watch it whenever I find it on the tube.   I thought I’d throw together a quick movie list post.   Everyone loves movies and lists, right?   So, a movie list.  My top 13 sports movies EVAH:

1. The Hustler - Ok, if we’re counting pool movies, then they’re on the top of the list.

2. The Color of Money - Yep.   Greatness.

3. Field of Dreams - Visiting the field where it was filmed in Dyersville, IA with my Dad and brother just drove home the greatness of this movie.

4. Rudy - 1993.  Notre Dame.   My wheelhouse.   Even hearing Dan Reutiger speak couldn’t ruin the movie for me.

5. Rocky - I kinda group Rocky II with the original because I had a picture book of the two combined that I wore out.   I think I wanted to be a boxer before I wanted to be anything else.

6. The Natural - Just a great, great movie.   Ridiculously dumb, but great.   Huh.

7. Hoosiers - Another movie that I watch EVERY time it comes on.   And, Gene Hackman freakin’ annoys me.   But, it’s important to know the height of the rim.

8. Tin Cup - I don’t like Kevin Costner (Bull Durham - not on list), but two of his movies make the top 8.

9. Jerry Maguire - Help me help you.   Show me the money.   And, the quotes go on.   Chic movie, but whatever.

10. Hoop Dreams - I don’t know if I should include documentaries, but I am.

11. Days of Thunder - Cole Trickle is the man.   I’m ready for the sequel.

12. The Karate Kid - So much wisdom.

13. Fever Pitch - I liked the book (about Arsenal in the EPL).   I like Fallon and Berrymore.   And, I’m a Red Sox fan.   So, fuck you.   It gets on the list.

Yes, I left off plenty of movies that “should” be on the list.   But, they’re not.   So, ha!

thejimshow

Well, the show has been postponed, much like the Rangers were today.   I’ll let you know when we do it, but there will be two shows up in the next week.

Labor Day.

I’ve had a nice weekend.   Won Big Stack Bowl Friday.   My brother is in town.   Went drinking last night.   Nice dinner tonight.   Going to check out Cowboys Stadium and a HS game in the morning before he leaves town.   Also, looking forward to a good taping of thejimshow (we’ll change the date back to Saturday and get it up ASAP) tomorrow between good college games.

The Shocker.

I know BYU beat OU, and that there were some other upsets in college football today.  But, really?   Roddick lost?   WTF?
