DVR

I haven’t watched one episode of this year’s WSOP yet.   I also have last week and this week (9 episodes and counting) of new PAD cash game to watch.    I will get to this soon.    Maybe?   I tend to watch stuff that I can have on while playing poker online.   And, I’d like to take a break and watch all this poker with somewhere near my full attention.   We’ll see.

Another episode tonight.    Very good.   Krantz goes through the valley that all of us go through, and miraculously is back in the game by the end of the half hour, and happy to be there.   Brian finds good spots and loses 100k for the week.   Dani and Emil show us how two kids with money in Vegas can get laid.   We get another look at the tilt room, which is still the coolest thing about the show to me.

After the show, I was actually fired up to play some online.   Put on my lucky hoodie and sat down to get in some action.    4 bad beats later, including a 3 outer on 7th street in a 3 way pot in stud (the 3rd guy was drawing dead), and I’m not so fired up.   Ok, we’ll play a couple mtt’s.    See how that goes.   Later.

The show returned today (sometime Saturday afternoon).   My DVR picked it up, or I wouldn’t have known.   I will warn all of you that the next show is 10-31, so remember Halloween=FtA.   Ok, now that’s out of the way.   The contestant, again, was annoying as fuck.  The reason Moneymaker was so huge (ok, one of many) was that ‘we’ could picture ourselves in his shoes, being nervous making a call with only 33 after the flop against Dutch Boyd or making a huge bluff HU against Sammy Farha.   I can’t relate to these douchebags they keep putting on the show.   And, are they winning their way on?   I mean, that’s not better.   I don’t wanna know that dumbys like this win the megamultis online.   Whatever.   I am going to keep watching.   btw, I talked to a friend of mine who works behind the scenes on the show on last week’s thejimshow, so you should listen to that episode to get a further take of mine and/or someone else’s take on it.   Ok, later.

Not much to say this week.   The guys made it clear that they’re out of touch with reality.   Talking about and/or actually spending money hand over fist.    HU live match against Erica Schoenberg.   I guess I’m hatin’, but don’t they consider the possibility that this could all end?

Wheeeeeeeeeeee.

Well, for the last couple weeks, whenever I would hit a losing streak playing sngs, I would play a quick cash game, win some money, and go back to the sngs.   It was nice.   Starting today, ftp is offering a promotion where you play 2 cash games at once for 25 days this month, and you get $50.   Easy enough.   Well, in one day, I’ve run bad in sngs, and now razz and stud hi (playing two tables at once to get credit for the 1st and 2nd).   Lost half my ftp bankroll.   Awesome.   I’ll make sure to post again tomorrow when I’m running ridiculously good.

WCOOP

Monday, August 31st, 2009

I’m playing mostly on FTP right now.   It seems to switch for me every so often, between them and Stars (although I’m still nostalgic since I started on UB).   I’ll run up a small deposit, and either cash out or donk it off, and then make my next deposit on the other site.   With my current super-turbo sng craze, it’s FTP for now.   But, I was just reminded, when I went to the tao of poker, that the WCOOP is coming up on Stars.   Just thought I’d throw it out there that I’m willing to be staked into a few WCOOP events.   Contact me at thejimsheet at hotmail dot com if you’re interested.

100 sngs.

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Just finished another 100.   Had a 13 game losing streak near the end, but rallied.   11 1sts, 1 1.5 (very last sng, and my first “deal”), 11 2nds, and 15 3rds.   I’m trying to decide if I’m going to formalize some rules.   We’ll see.

I’ve also now spent about 4 hours, while playing only 1 at a time, getting ready for my ff auction draft.   I have a feeling I’m about to get pwned.

Time to try to get some sleep.

The difference?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I know I’ve written about this before, but I constantly wonder if it’s just one long streak of running good and pressing it that leads to most players getting to the high stakes games.    Or, maybe they have money from something else and just start there.   I don’t know.   I have to play more.   I have to run better.   I have to play better.   I have to do it all.

What do I not understand about sngs?   Since I’m always getting bad beats, does that mean I’m not getting it bad often enough (like I should be more LAG)?   Do I just need more volume, and my luck will even out?   Is the expected ROI for the best players lower than I think it may be?   All of the above?

100 sngs

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Finished the 100 sngs from H-E-Double Hockey Sticks.   6 1sts, 14 2nds, 12 3rds.   Whatever card(s) my opponent needed, they got.   It’s this kind of run over a few days that gets you thinking shit is rigged.   Going to take a break tonight, and then hit it hard again tomorrow.

Face the Ace.

I thought the Saturday night, ‘primetime’ slot was permanent.   It was not.   The show, which to date has done horribly, now moves to weekend afternoons once a month (9/12, 10/31, 11/14, 12/12, and 1/2 as of now).   This is dumb.   The incessant rebroadcasts of Poker After Dark is dumb.   The long layoffs between seasons of HSP is dumb.    I’m going to watch WSOP next, and I’m sure ESPN will be dumb in their handling of it.   The WPT is almost dead.   I love poker, but have about given up on anyone getting poker on TV right.
