Ok, so G4 has a new show I’ve mentioned a couple times.   4 online poker players are trying to win $2 million in two months.   I just watched the first episode.   I will watch every episode, but this is another poker show that has nothing to do with poker.   It’s about 4 dorks in their early to mid-twenties living in a house in Vegas for a couple months, and the hijinks that ensue.   That’s all I have to say about that.

Up a level 100.

100 sngs, up a level.   Ran good, especially the first 2/3.   15 1sts, 13 2nds, 11 3rds, which I’ll definitely take each 100.

After complaining earlier about a 9 sng session, I played 11 just now to finish up the 100.   2 2nds and 1 1st, and just as many beats as the earlier session.   But, somehow, I was calmer.   It’s like once I put the ridiculousness of “fairness” out of my mind and into reality (or at least as ‘real’ as this blog is), it dissolves.

Ok, off to the store to get some Tums.

Frustration.

I just played 9 sngs.  I got a 1st and two 2nds, which means I made a few cents.   But, during those 9 sngs (made more frenectic by doing a mock ff draft at the same time), I suffered every beat possible.   I enjoy winning at poker, but back to back to back to back (ad infinitum) beats sure do cause pain.

Well, my next 100 sngs didn’t happen in 24 hours.  It took about 168.

11 1sts, 10 2nds, and 16 3rds is about as close to break even as you can get.

ft also offered me (and everyone else) a bonus, so I’m sure I’ll go broke trying to clear it by stepping up a level in sngs and playing bankroll buster level cash games.    I’m dumb.

The next 100.

Bad times.   Only 6 1sts, 13 2nds, and 13 3rds.   Not (obv?) moving up now.   I think I’ll try to play my next 100 in the next 24 hours, without losing my cool or my mind.   My next post will be how that goes.   Wheeeeee.   Something for you to anxiously await….

You got hands?

If you have any that you’d like me to discuss ‘on air’, or better yet, that you’d be willing to discuss with me ‘on air’, please e-mail at thejimsheet AT hotmail.

Thanks in advance.

I haven’t won (1st place) in my last 40 sngs.  Wow.

I don’t understand how people grind so much.   I run bad for 15 sngs, and I’m furious at the world.

Ok, lol, I feel better after writing that.   Somehow, it takes it out of my head and makes it real, and in the real world, running bad for a few sngs isn’t too bad.   And, I just flopped a boat with J5o in the bb in a mtt.
Back to the grind.

Televised poker.

Since I’m not playing much, I think I’ll start including some commentary of hands I see on TV.

This year’s WSOP should start on Tuesdays starting July 28.  That first night will be the 40k nlhe, which I’m interested in because I was there sweating it live for the second half.   Then, the next two weeks will be the Champs Invitational and Ante up for Africa (blech).   Then, it’s 13 weeks (every Tuesday August 18 through November 10) of Main Event.   Obviously, I’d love to see non-nlhe on TV, but we don’t always get what we want blahblahblah.

I have lost touch with the WPT, but will try to rekindle that romance.

I enjoy the NBC HU championship, but it’ll be awhile.

Speaking of NBC, I do watch PAD almost daily, even the repeats.   This week is one of my favorite lineups, and it’s cash, which I prefer.   Nets v. Vets or somesuch with Benefield, South, Caby, Brunson, Elezra, and Kaplan.   I recommend it, homies.

And, of course, HSP, the best poker on TV (ok, maybe not good poker, but entertaining).   Maybe I’ll go back to season 1 and watch them all again online while I wait for a new season.

Awesome.

As mentioned earlier, I’ve hit a snag in sngs.   I’ve now gone 22 without a 1st, which drains.

So, I fired up Stars for some TD2-7, and entered a couple mtts.   $2 and $5.   Went out early in the $5, but hung around in the $2, building a stack.   Took my AK up against AA, losing a pot that would have made me chipleader with about 20% of the field left.   Ok, back to work.   Build it up through incredibly brilliant play (read: patience, more patience, allin, hold up and maybe a couple steals).   Then, I’m down to the last 2% of the tourney.   Win some more, should make the FT.   Boom.  TT loses to AQ with a nice overlay and then AQ loses to JJ (against the same fucker who had AA against my AK earlier, gets moved to my table just in time to bust me with my chips).

Logging out now.   I may take tomorrow off from poker.   I’m sure I’ll play a lot while following the Main Event online.
